Find lost property on a train, tram or bus

To help find your missing item, give us as much information as possible such as:

• the route you were travelling on
• the direction you were heading
• the time the item went missing.

Metropolitan (Melbourne) trains, trams and buses

Trains

If you think you have lost an item on a train or at a station, you can call Metro Trains on 9610 7512 from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (except public holidays) or email [email protected].

The Lost Property Office at Flinders Street Station is currently closed and all collection is by appointment only.

Trams

If you're trying to find an item lost on a tram, you can complete a form on the Yarra Trams website or email [email protected].

Staff are available to assist with enquiries from 8am to 12pm, Monday to Friday (except public holidays.)

Lost items will be collected by Yarra Trams staff and transferred to a centralised location. Collection of items is by appointment only and from a location in the city.

The items are held for a period of 60 days. After that, they're donated to charity.

Buses

If you've left something on a bus, you should contact your local bus operator. Items left on buses are kept at bus depots.

Regional trains and buses

If you've lost something on a regional train or bus, you should contact your local public transport operator.

If you've left something on a V/Line service, you can call V/Line on 03 9619 2588 from 6am to 10pm.

After hours

If you've lost something on public transport after hours, you can call 1800 800 007. 

Lost or stolen tickets

You can replace a lost or stolen myki card if it’s registered.

You can also replace a lost or stolen V/Line ticket if you have a reserved seat.

Found items

If you find lost property when travelling on public transport, please give it to staff member or an Authorised Officer.
