We’re making it easier to travel on public transport by introducing more ways to pay.
What are contactless payments?
Contactless payments allow you to pay for your own travel using your Mastercard, Visa credit or debit cards, smart device or smart watch.
The system uses encrypted technology to process transactions quickly and safely, making everyday travel faster, easier and more convenient.
You'll be able to check your travel and payment history online using our new contactless payments portal.
We're progressively introducing contactless payments and will continue testing and improving to ensure it works smoothly.
How to use tap and go
- Full fare customers only (concession card holders should continue using myki)
- Mastercard or Visa
- Tap on with your credit or debit card, phone or smart watch, and be sure to tap off the same way
- Make sure you have enough money for your journey before you tap
- Take your card out of your wallet before you tap
- View your contactless travel history here
Authorised officers
Authorised Officers are there to support passengers as we rollout out tap and go across the myki network. Don't worry if you make a mistake, we're here to help.
When checking contactless payments, they won’t see your banking details or any personal information.
