Travelling on a replacement bus
There are rules you need to follow for replacement bus services.
You can't take certain items on replacement buses. This is to ensure everyone can travel safely and comfortably.
Items not allowed on replacement buses
- A conventional bike on a bus or tram. Exception: folding bikes that meet the size criteria listed on bicycles and public transport.
- An animal unless it is in a suitable container. Exception: assistance dogs.
- A surfboard.

Wheelchair Accessible Taxis are available. Most train replacement buses will be low-floor models.

V/Line replacement coaches
V/Line replacement coaches arrive and depart from the Southern Cross coach terminal.
You need a valid myki or paper ticket to use this service.
There is limited space for bikes on V/Line replacement coach services.
You can't take:
- pets
- hot food or liquids.
Cold packaged foods can be eaten on V/Line coach services. All drink containers must have a secure, screw-top, fastening or spill-proof lid.
