More ways to tap and go now being rolled out on trains
Contactless payments are coming to a station near you
We're introducing tap and go on trains.
Following successful public trials on the Craigieburn, Upfield, Ballarat, and Seymour lines contactless payments will be switched on in two stages.
On 7 June
- Pakenham, Sunbury and Cranbourne lines (including Metro Tunnel) and Gippsland and Bendigo lines
- Frankston, Sandringham, Williamstown, Werribee and Geelong lines
On 14 June
- Mernda and Hurstbridge lines
- Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein and Glen Waverly lines
From 14 June, all full fare customers can choose to tap and go on all train lines on the myki network!
Keep using your myki if you prefer, or if you are continuing your journey on a bus or tram.
How to use tap and go
- Full fare customers only (concession card holders should continue using myki)
- Mastercard or Visa
- Tap on with your credit or debit card, phone or smart watch, and be sure to tap off the same way
- Make sure you have enough money for your journey before you tap
- Take your card out of your wallet before you tap
- View your contactless travel history here
Fares
Tap and go fares are the same as myki fares. Depending on your card provider and bank, it may take up to three days for payment to appear in your bank account. You may see a pending amount before your daily fare is calculated and confirmed.
From Monday 1 June until 1 January 2027, public transport in Victoria will be half price. This includes concession holders.
It’s time to tap on. To access half-priced travel customers simply tap on as usual. For more information about half price fares visit transport.vic.gov.au/halfpricefares
Authorised Officers
Authorised Officers are there to support customers as we roll out tap and go across the myki network. Don't worry if you make a mistake, we're here to help.
When checking contactless payments, they won’t see your banking details or any personal information.
What’s next?
Tap and go on trams and buses will be available soon.
