The 2026 NFL Melbourne Game kicks off at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday 11 September at 10:35am. Gates open at 7am.
Trains and trams run every 2 to 4 minutes from the city to the MCG.
Public transport is half price across the state for everyone. The most you'll pay is the daily fare cap of $5.70.
The Free Tram Zone will be temporarily extended along routes 48 and 75 to Jolimont Station, and Route 70 to Melbourne Park.

Heading to gameday
Walking from the city centre
- Start at Fed Square, opposite Flinders Street and Town Hall stations.
- Walk through Birrarung Marr and across William Barak Bridge to the W1 entrance (15 mins).
Travelling by train
- Get off at Flinders Street or Town Hall Station: 15-min walk to W1 entrance.
- Get off at Richmond Station: 5-min walk to E2 entrance.
- Get off at Jolimont Station: 2-min walk to N1 or N2 entrances.
- Travelling from the west: Catch the Werribee, Laverton, Williamstown or Sandringham line directly to Richmond Station.
Travelling by tram
- Route 70a (Flinders St): Get off at Stop 7B (MCG/Rod Laver Arena) or 7C (MCG/John Cain Arena) for the S1 or S2 entrances.
- Route 48a (Collins St) or Route 75a (Flinders St): Get off at Stop 11 (Jolimont Station/MCG) for the N1 or N2 entrances.
Travelling by bus
- Route 246 (via Punt Rd, East Melbourne): Get off at Rowena Parade for a short walk through Yarra Park to the E1 or E2 entrances.

Leaving the MCG
Heading home or back to the city centre
- Follow the paths directly to Richmond Station for trains home or to the city.
- Walk via William Barak Bridge to the city centre (a 15 to 20-minute walk).
Heading to the NFL Kickoff Festival at Melbourne Park
- Exit via S1 or S2 to take the pedestrian bridges straight over the railway lines to Melbourne Park (400 metres, 5-minute walk).
- You need a ticket to attend this event.

Trains and buses run to the MCG all night
Public transport will operate overnight on Thursday night and Friday morning, so you can get to and from the MCG whenever you choose.
- Trains will run 24 hours across the metropolitan network, with one service per hour on every line between 1am and 5am.
- Shuttle buses will operate between the city and the MCG every 15 minutes, following tram Route 75a from Flinders Street to the Jolimont Station precinct, between 12.15am and 5am.
