Public transport for the Melbourne Royal Show: Thursday 24 September to Sunday 4 October 2026
We're running extra trams and trains to get passengers to all the fun and excitement of the Melbourne Royal Show! Services will operate every day to and from the Melbourne Showgrounds.
- Gates open: 9:30am
- Gates close: 9:30pm (10:00pm on Saturday 26 September, Friday 2 October, Saturday 3 October)

Metropolitan train
Getting to and from Showgrounds
On weekdays (excluding 25 September Public Holiday & 2 October), trains will depart Flinders Street (Platforms 8, 9 and 10) stopping at Southern Cross (Platform 13 & 14) and North Melbourne (Platform 5 & 6) stations, then running express to Showgrounds (Platform 1) in both directions.
Train services from Flinders Street to Showgrounds will operate:
- 9.10am to 11:45am: every 8-10 minutes
- 11:45am to 10:30pm: every 20 minutes
On weekends (including 25 September Public Holiday), trains will depart Flinders Street (Platforms 8, 9 and 10) stopping at Southern Cross (Platform 13 & 14) and North Melbourne (Platform 5 & 6) stations, then running express to Showgrounds (Platform 1) in both directions.
Train services from Flinders Street to Showgrounds will operate:
- 9.10am to 1:00pm: every 8-10 minutes
- 1:00pm to 6:15pm: every 10 minutes
- 6:15pm to 10:30pm: every 15 minutes
On Saturday 26 September (AFL Grand Final), trains will depart Flinders Street (Platform 9) stopping at Southern Cross (Platform 13 & 14) and North Melbourne (Platform 5 & 6) stations, then running express to Showgrounds (Platform 1) in both directions.
Train services from Flinders Street to Showgrounds will operate:
- 9.10am to 1:00pm: every 8-10 minutes
- 1:00pm to 6:15pm: every 10 minutes
- 6:15pm to 10:30pm: every 15 minutes
On Friday 2 October, trains will depart Flinders Street (Platform 9) stopping at Southern Cross (Platform 13 & 14) and North Melbourne (Platform 5 & 6) stations, then running express to Showgrounds (Platform 1) in both directions.
Train services from Flinders Street to Showgrounds will operate:
- 9.10am to 11:45am: every 8-10 minutes
- 11:45am to 10:30pm: every 20 minutes
On Saturday 3 October (Turnbull Stakes Race Day at Flemington Racecourse) from 10:40am to 8:10pm, every 2nd service (approximately 20 minutes) will extend from the Showgrounds to Flemington Racecourse (Platform 1).
Metropolitan tram
Getting to and from Showgrounds
- Trams will operate via Route 57 from Stop 01 Flinders Street / Elizabeth Street and passengers can alight at Stop 32 Sandown Road/ Epsom Road via Flemington Road.
Route 57a – Showground Shuttles
- On weekdays (excluding 25 September Public Holiday):
- Additional shuttle services will operate from 8:30am to 10:30pm between Stop 01 Flinders Street / Elizabeth Street and Stop 33 Showground via Flemington Road.
- Every second shuttle will operate between Showgrounds and Royal Children’s Hospital from 6:30pm to 10:30pm.
- On weekends and 25 September Public Holiday
- Additional shuttle services will operate from 8:30am to 11:00pm between Stop 01 Flinders Street / Elizabeth Street and Stop 33 Showground via Flemington Road.
- Every second shuttle will operate between Showgrounds and Royal Children’s Hospital from 6:30pm to 11:00pm.
Route 57a – West Maribyrnong Shuttles
- On weekends and 25 September Public Holiday
- Additional shuttle services will operate from 8:30am to 11:00pm between Stop 01 Flinders Street / Elizabeth Street and Stop 49 Central Park Avenue via Flemington Road.
- Every second shuttle will operate between Showgrounds and Royal Children’s Hospital from 6:30pm to 11:00pm.

Getting to and from Showgrounds
The following bus route travels close to Showgrounds:
- Route 472 (Williamstown to Moonee Ponds via Footscray)
Passengers can catch buses from Footscray Station and alight at Langs Road/Showgrounds.

Getting to Showgrounds
Passengers arriving at North Melbourne and Southern Cross stations are advised to change trains and catch a Showgrounds service.

Passengers are advised to catch any train from Showgrounds and alight at Southern Cross or North Melbourne stations and change to a regional train.
