Horse Racing returns to Melbourne at the Flemington Racecourse! Public transport is your best way to enjoy it, with extra services to help you get to and from the Flemington Racecourse on Saturday 20 June 2026. 

  • Gates Open: 10.55am
  • First Race: 11.55am
  • Last Race: 4.35pm

Metropolitan train

Getting to Flemington Racecourse

Trains will operate from Flinders Street (Platform 6) stopping only at Southern Cross (Platform 11), North Melbourne (Platform 4), enroute to Flemington Racecourse (Platform 1).

  • From 10:40am, services will depart every 30 minutes.  

Trains returning to Flinders Street between 11:13am and 1:13pm, will stop at North Melbourne (Platform 3) and Southern Cross (Platform 12).

During the above period, services will stop via North Melbourne enroute to Flinders Street with passengers. 

The last departure from Flinders Street will be at 1.10pm 

Leaving from Flemington Racecourse 

Trains will operate from Flemington Racecourse (Platform 1), stopping only at North Melbourne (Platform 3) and Southern Cross (Platform 12), enroute to Flinders Street (Platform 6). 

  • From 3:37pm, services will depart every 40 minutes.
  • From 4:57pm, services will depart every 20 minutes. 

Durning the above period, services will operate via North Melbourne to Flemington Racecourse with passengers. 

The final service from Flemington Racecourse will depart at 6.17pm from (Platform 1).

Getting to and from Flemington Racecourse

Route 57

  • Trams will operate via Route 57 from Stop 01 Flinders Street / Elizabeth Street and passengers can alight at Stop 32 Sandown Road/ Epsom Road via Flemington Road. 

Metropolitan bus

Getting to and from Flemington Racecourse

The following bus route travels close to Flemington Racecourse: 

  • Route 472 (Williamstown to Moonee Ponds via Footscray)

Passengers can catch buses from Footscray Station and alight at Langs Road/Showgrounds.

Getting to Flemington Racecourse

Passengers arriving at North Melbourne and Southern Cross stations are advised to change trains and catch a Flemington Racecourse service.

Passengers are advised to catch any train from Flemington Racecourse and alight at Southern Cross or North Melbourne stations and change to a regional train.
