Tickets and myki
Paper tickets and eTickets
You need a paper ticket or eTicket to travel on some regional train, bus and coach services.
When you need a paper ticket or eTicket
You may need a paper ticket or eTicket if you’re travelling on:
- buses in some regional towns
- V/Line trains to Bairnsdale, Albury, Shepparton, Echuca, Swan Hill, Ararat, Maryborough or Warrnambool
- V/Line coaches.
Use Journey Planner to view the type of ticket you'll need for your trip.
Travelling across myki and paper-ticket zones
If your trip covers the myki zone and paper-ticket-only areas:
- Buy a paper ticket or e-ticket that covers your whole trip, from start to finish.
- Don’t touch on your myki.
You can buy a PTV daily ticket at train stations outside the myki zone, and on most non-myki buses.
Other options for travel
- Use your myki within the regional train network’s myki zones [PDF].
- Buy single (one-way), return, daily and weekly paper tickets if your journey begins or ends outside the myki zone.
