myki machine top up
Use myki machines to top up your myki Money or myki Pass balance.
Ways to top up
You can top up at myki machines using:
- cash
- EFTPOS
- credit card.
You must add at least $1 to your myki when you top up. Make sure your myki can cover a 2-hour fare, so you have a valid ticket for your next trip. View more on fares.
Don’t remove your card from the machine until it tells you.
If you have trouble reading the screen, increase the contrast by touching the zoom button and switching to black and white.
Mobile myki cannot be used with a myki machine.
Topping up with cash
When topping up with cash, myki machines:
- can’t give change for myki Money transactions
- can only give a maximum of $10 change for myki Pass transactions.
myki machines don't accept 5 cent coins. You may need to pay an extra 5 cents to cover a particular fare, but you won't be charged more for your journey.
Other myki machine functions
At a myki machine, you can also:
- view your card’s status, balance and expiry date
