Late-night public transport

Melbourne’s Night Network allows you to catch metropolitan trains, trams and buses, and certain regional coaches.

Late night services
Fares
Use your myki as normal when you travel. You won’t be charged a return fare if you tap on before 3am. A new day of myki fares begins at 3am.
At night, there are a number of ways you can top up:
- top up on Mobile myki
- instant top up on the PTV App
- myki machine top up at train stations, tram stops, staffed stations, or at 24-hour shops like 7-Eleven.

Safety

Protective Services Officers (PSOs) help ensure traveller safety. They patrol:
- on board trains and in train stations in metropolitan Melbourne and major regional train stations, including car parks
- bus interchanges and the surrounding area
- on board trams and tram stops.
