Loddon Mallee Hume Motorcycle Safety Infrastructure Program

We’re delivering safety improvements on four roads in Loddon Mallee Hume as part of the first stage of the Motorcycle Safety Infrastructure Program including:

• Broadford-Flowerdale Road near Strath Creek
• Whittlesea-Yea Road near Yea
• Mansfield-Whitfield Road near Mansfield and Whitfield
• Granya Road near Bullioh and Granya

We will be improving safety by:

• installing new motorcyclist friendly barrier treatments
• retrofitting ‘rub rail’ barrier protection to existing barriers
• improving signs and line-marking
• sealing of road shoulders, access points, driveways and intersection bell mouths to reduce the spread of gravel onto the road.  

Traffic impacts

Safety improvements will be delivered between September and December 2026, weather permitting.

Access to side roads may be temporarily impacted during these works, and reduced speed limits and lane closures may be in place.

Please observe changed traffic conditions, follow the direction of our crews and allow extra time to travel through the area.

The program of works is funded by $40 million from the Motorcycle Safety Levy and $5 million funded from the Australian Government’s Commonwealth Road Safety Program.
