Free travel for V/Line customers on 13 and 14 July
Following the Telstra outage that affected V/Line services on 8 and 9 July, we're offering free travel to V/Line customers on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 July 2026.
10/07/2026
We know the recent outage caused disruption to your journey. To say thanks for your patience, V/Line passengers will be eligible for free travel on the network on Monday 13 July and Tuesday 14 July 2026.
Your journey needs to start within Victoria on a V/Line train, or connect to one via bus or V/Line coach. This also covers your return trip and any onward travel on Metro trains, buses or trams.
Using myki or contactless payment
If you're travelling on the myki or contactless-enabled V/Line network, you'll need to collect a free travel voucher. You don't need to tap on or off with your myki, contactless card or device.
Vouchers are available:
- from station staff at staffed stations
- from the conductor on board the train if you're travelling from an unstaffed station.
Vouchers are dated for travel on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 July 2026 only.
If you tap on elsewhere on the network, for example at a Metro station or on a tram, you can apply for a refund online.
Long-distance services
For long distance services, book your ticket as usual — it'll be issued free of charge.
Refunds for pre-purchased tickets
If you already have a V/Line ticket booked for travel on 13 or 14 July 2026, you can apply for a refund.
If you booked online or through the Contact Centre, apply for a refund through the V/Line feedback form.
If you booked at a ticket office, you can visit any V/Line ticket office for a refund, or submit an online refund request through the V/Line feedback form.
If you accidentally tap on or off with their myki or contactless payment at a V/Line station on 13 or 14 July 2026, the fare will be automatically reimbursed within 48 hours for myki, and 72 hours for contactless.
myki Pass holders
If you hold a myki Pass, you can apply for a refund through the normal Transport Vic refund process. Standard refund calculations apply.
