If you experience or see unwanted sexual (USB) or anti-social behaviour (ASB) on public transport, you can report it discreetly using the STOPIT text tool to Victoria Police.

It’s a simple, non-urgent way to let them know what happened.

NOTE: STOPIT is not monitored live. In an emergency call Triple Zero (000).

Over 75 arrests have been made to date, thanks to the reports received.

What is unacceptable behaviour?

Any behaviour that makes you or others feel uncomfortable, threatened, or unsafe is not okay – and can be reported.

Unwanted sexual behaviours can include:

  • catcalling, sexual comments or gestures
  • intrusive questions or conversation of a sexual nature
  • standing too close or invading personal space
  • upskirting’ or taking photos under another person's clothing
  • pressing or rubbing against people
  • non-consensual touching
  • watching pornography in public
  • flashing/exposure of intimate body parts
  • sending or showing explicit material by phone
  • stalking
  • sexual assault

Anti-social behaviours can include:

  • loud and nuisance behaviour
  • verbal abuse
  • threatening behaviour
  • harassment and intimidation
  • vandalism
  • criminal damage to public or private property

These are examples of behaviours that can be reported through STOPIT.
