If your company wants to undertake temporary traffic management in Victoria, your staff must comply with Austroads’ National Training Framework for Temporary Traffic Management. This training provides the skills and experience needed to undertake temporary traffic management in a risky and complex road environment. Training transition timeline

In Victoria, the Austroads’ National Training Framework for Temporary Traffic Management was implemented in a staggered rollout.

To help you understand the transition timeline, we’ve broken down the rollout into the following timeline.  

Recognition of interstate qualifications

During the training transition timeline, we’ll still recognise interstate qualifications. Training must comply with either the Austroads’ National Training Framework for Temporary Traffic Management (if this has been rolled out in your jurisdiction), or to the previous training outlined above.

To help you understand these requirements, we’ve broken down the information below:
 

JurisdictionYou need to have attained the following trainingWhat you need to provide

South Australia, Northern Territory or Tasmania 

  • Statement of attainment 

Any other jurisdiction 

  1. Traffic Control (TC): RIIWHS205 – Control Traffic with Stop/Slow Bat.

  2. Traffic Management Implementation (TMI): RIIWHS302 – Implement Traffic Management Plans 

  3. Traffic Management Design (TMD) RIICWD503 - Prepare traffic management plans and traffic guidance schemes  

  • Statement of attainment. 

Your training will be recognised until: 

  • initial TTM card expiry date; 

  • three years from date initial TTM Card issued/date qualification attained (or the following dates):

    • TC/TMI: 1 March 2027 (whichever is earliest)

    • TMD 10 July 2027 (whichever is earliest)
