Victorian road maintenance program 2025 26

Melbourne area

Find out about the maintenance work being done in the Melbourne area.

We’re busy rebuilding, repairing and resurfacing roads right across the state, including key routes across metropolitan Melbourne.

This year's road maintenance program is targeting high-traffic areas and busy freight routes, including some of the most important roads connecting communities in Melbourne.

We regularly inspect roads and carry out emergency repairs as needed, while more extensive works, such as road rebuilding and rehabilitation, are delivered during the warmer, drier months from September to May to ensure repairs are long-lasting.

Current works

Resurfacing works on Hampton Street, Brighton

We’re undertaking maintenance works Hampton Street, between Mills Street and Ludstone Street in Brighton.

We’ll be working between 7pm and 5am from Monday 6 July to Friday 10 July. Hampton Street will be closed between Mills Street and Arcadia Street, with detours in place.

Please follow all signage.

Leakes Road, Aintree/Rockbank (rehabilitation works)

Dates: Monday 6 July to Sunday 19 July 2026.
Disruptions: Nightly closures of the Western Freeway on and off ramps, and lanes closures on Leakes Road, with traffic controllers on site to let traffic through the site, one lane at a time.
Detours: Via Western Freeway, Ferris Road overpass, Melton Highway, Leakes Road, Hopkins Road overpass and Greigs Road.

Princes Highway eastbound – Dandenong

Dates: Sunday 5 July to Tuesday 7 July 2026
Disruptions: Eastbound lanes closed between David Street and James Street, from 9pm to 5am.
Detour: Heatherton Road and Stud Road

Princes Highway eastbound – Dandenong

Dates: Wednesday 8 July to Monday 13 July 2026
Disruptions: Eastbound lanes closed between Eastlink Tollway and Airlie Avenue, from 9pm to 5am.
Detour: Heatherton Road and Stud Road

Princes Highway eastbound – Hallam

Dates: Tuesday 13 July 2026
Disruptions: Eastbound lanes closed near Hallam Road, from 9pm to 5am.
Detour: South Gippsland Freeway, Monash Freeway and Narre Warren North Road.

Princes Highway eastbound – Noble Park

Dates: Wednesday 14 July to Sunday 19 July 2026
Disruptions: Eastbound lanes closed between Joan Court and Eastlink Tollway, from 9pm to 5am.
Detour: Jacksons Road, Monash Freeway and Stud Road.

Western Roads Upgrade maintenance

We’re delivering important road maintenance on the Western Roads Upgrade in Melbourne’s western suburbs.

Maintenance program 2025-26

Rehabilitation works on the following roads in the Melbourne area will be undertaken between now and mid-2026:

Huntingdale Road, between Bourke Road and Bunney Road at Clarinda (740m) in City of Kingston.
Leakes Road, between Woodlea Boulevard and Westcott Parade at Aintree (700m) in City of Melton.
Normanby Road, between West Gate Freeway and Clarendon Street at Southbank (450m) in City of Port Phillip.
Woodland Street, between Carnarvon Road and Balmanno Crescent at Essendon (380m) in City of Moonee Valley.
Koo Wee Rup-Longwarry Road, between Finks Road and School Road at Bayles (735m) in Cardinia Shire.
Sunbury-Riddells Creek Road, between Elizabeth Drive and Spavin Drive at Sunbury (960m) in City of Hume.
Western Port Highway, between South Boundary Road East and Eramosa Road East at Pearcedale (450m) in Mornington Peninsula Shire.
Westernport Road, between Phillips Road and Mount Lyall Road at Heath Hill (2.2km) in Cardinia Shire
