Gippsland region

Find out about the maintenance work being done in the Gippsland region. 

We’re busy rebuilding, repairing and resurfacing roads right across the state, including key routes across the Gippsland Region.

This year's road maintenance program is targeting high-traffic areas and busy freight routes, including some of the most important roads connecting communities in the south east.

We regularly inspect roads and carry out emergency repairs as needed, while more extensive works, such as road rebuilding and rehabilitation, are delivered during the warmer, drier months from September to May to ensure repairs are long-lasting.

Current works

Moe-Glengarry Road rehabilitation works, Tyers

Rehabilitation works on Moe-Glengarry Road in Tyers, between Sawyers Lane and Littles Lane, are underway. 

Crews are working on the road surface of the 800m stretch of road between 6am and 6 pm, from Tuesday 16 June to Tuesday 30 June 2026.

During works, lane closures are in place, with reduced speed limits to ensure the safety of crews and road users.

Maintenance program 2025-26

Rehabilitation works on the following roads in the Gippsland region are complete:

  • Princes Highway East, between Great Alpine Road and Philips Lane at Bairnsdale (1km) in East Gippsland Shire.
  • Stratford-Maffra Road, between Harkness Lane and Beet Road at Maffra (1.4km) in Wellington Shire
  • Bass Highway, between Duncans Road and Koonwarra-Inverloch Road at Pound Creek (1.6km) in South Gippsland Shire
  • South Gippsland Highway
    • between Stony Creek-Dollar Road and Whitelaws Track at Stony Creek (820m) in South Gippsland Shire
    • between Charles Street and Bridge Street at Korumburra (820m) in South Gippsland Shire
  • Phillip Island Road, between Bermagui Crescent and Smiths Beach Road at Rhyll (610m) in Bass Coast Shire.
  • Rosedale-Longford Road, between Albert Street and Mill Lane at Rosedale (700m) in Wellington Shire
     

Resurfacing work was also carried out on many roads across the Gippsland region as part of the 2025-26 Victorian road maintenance program:
