Sunbury station bus interchange and car park projects
2025 was a big year for the Sunbury Station Precinct. We upgraded the bus interchange and the Brook Street commuter carpark to improve safety and accessibility for passengers.
In April 2026, we’ll be starting a one-year trial for Smart Lighting in the Brook Street carpark to cut energy use and reduce emissions.
Sunbury Bus Interchange Upgrades
The upgrades to the bus interchange included new passenger information displays (PIDs) providing real time information on bus services; safer pedestrian crossings and an extra bus layover area to ease congestion. New tactile ground surface indicators, lighting and CCTV were also installed.
The ground surface of the bus interchange was improved by replacing the old pavers with concrete.
Commuter car park upgrades
The Brook Street commuter carpark also received upgrades with an accessible pathway, linking the multi-level carpark, the Brook Street carpark, and the station entrance. We’ve also installed additional accessible parking spaces and new bike hoops.
The Smart Lighting trial will be commencing soon.
Smart lighting allows the lights in the commuter car park to adjust when movement is not detected. This causes the lights to automatically change brightness to save overall power consumption and carbon emissions. The lights return to normal brightness when someone walks or drives in the car park.
Only the commuter parking spaces at Brook Street will be part of the lighting trial.
Passengers can provide feedback on the trial by completing this survey.
