South Gippsland Highway and Clyde-Five Ways Road intersection upgrade
We’re upgrading the South Gippsland Highway and Clyde-Five Ways Road intersection in Devon Meadows to improve safety and keep traffic flowing to cater to Melbourne’s growing population.
Planned
Big Build Roads is delivering the South Gippsland Highway and Clyde-Five Ways Road intersection upgrade on behalf of Transport Victoria.
Upcoming works
From Tuesday 21 July 2026, we’ll work day and night to shift safety barriers in our work area, creating safe work zones for crews to begin the next stage of works.
Weather permitting, the following will then be in place from 5pm, Thursday 23 July until October 2026:
- Fisheries Road, Finsbury Road and Clyde-Five Ways Road will be closed at the intersection of South Gippsland Highway (see maps 1 – 3 for detours)
- South Gippsland Highway remains one lane each direction between Browns and Manks roads
- Temporary closures of some bus stops on routes 796, 795, and V/Line Coach (see maps 4 – 6 for details)
This will allow us to work at Fisheries Road and Clyde-Five Ways Road to upgrade drainage, build new kerbs and gutters, and install new public lighting and traffic signals.
What to expect during works
We’ll mostly work Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm and on some Saturdays until 1pm. At times, we may need to work overnight from 8pm to 5am. If we do, we’ll let you know ahead of time.
There will be temporary speed reductions and changed traffic conditions. We recommend allowing an extra 15 minutes for your journey. Please visit bigbuild.vic.gov.au or refer to roadside messaging for the most up-to-date information.
