South Gippsland Highway and Clyde-Five Ways Road intersection upgrade
We’re upgrading the South Gippsland Highway and Clyde-Five Ways Road intersection in Devon Meadows to improve safety and keep traffic flowing to cater to Melbourne’s growing population.
Planned
What we're doing
Big Build Roads is upgrading the intersections of Clyde-Five Ways Road and South Gippsland Highway, and Fisheries Road and South Gippsland Highway in Devon Meadows on behalf of Transport Victoria.
The upgrade will:
Improve safety by installing traffic lights at the intersection of Clyde-Five Ways Road and South Gippsland Highway, and at the intersection of Fisheries Road and South Gippsland Highway
Make it easier to walk through the area through upgraded footpaths and signalised crossings
Reduce bottlenecks by widening the road at the intersection, building a dedicated left turn lane onto South Gippsland Highway from Clyde-Five Ways Road, and extending the existing right turn lane from South Gippsland Highway onto Fisheries Road.
Work will begin in June and is expected to be completed in early 2027.

Benefits
Safer journeys for all road users
- Reduce bottlenecks
- Better pedestrian connections
What to expect
We’ll mostly work Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm and on some Saturdays until 1pm. At times, we may need to work overnight from 8pm to 5am. If we do, we’ll let you know ahead of time.
There will be temporary speed reductions and changed traffic conditions in place while we work. Plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey. We recommend allowing an extra 10 minutes for your journey.
