Shakespeare Street and Traralgon Creek Road roundabout improvements, Traralgon

We’re undertaking improvements to the roundabout at Shakespeare Street and Traralgon Creek Road (Hyland Highway) in Traralgon to improve safety.

Project status:

Planned

We’re making improvements to the roundabout at Shakespeare Street and Traralgon Creek Road (Hyland Highway) to improve safety in this busy area of Traralgon.

Works are expected to begin in late 2026 and be completed in early 2027.
These works are funded by the Australian Government under the 2025/2026 Black Spot Program.

These works will improve safety by slowing vehicles as they approach the roundabout, reducing the likelihood and severity of cross-traffic crashes.

The improvements include:

  • adding a raised safety platforms on approaches to the roundabout
  • reconfiguring traffic lanes with line marking and modified kerb
  • extending traffic islands and upgrading pedestrian crossing points across all legs of the roundabout
  • improving the pavement
  • extending the 60km/h speed zone on Traralgon Creek Road (Hyland Highway) to south of Hunter Road.

This project has been funded under the federal Black Spot program 2025-26.

Traffic impacts

We understand roadworks can be disruptive and we will make every effort to minimise the impact on road users.

There will be some disruption to traffic at times with lane closures and reduced speed limits.

We will provide advance notice of traffic changes as the construction starts and works progress.
