Funding

In the 2021/2022 budgets, the Australian and Victorian governments committed $12.5 million for the upgrade.

In May 2026, an additional $6.5m was committed in the 2026/2027 Federal and State Budgets, bringing the total project budget to $19m.

What’s next

Detailed planning is currently underway as the project progresses to construction. Key activities include:

  • developing the project design and construction approach
  • on-site investigations, including testing ground conditions and identifying flora and fauna species.

To ensure these site investigations are completed safely, there may be temporary lane closures and reduced speeds. Traffic disruption will be kept to a minimum, and busy periods will be avoided, where possible.

Planning work for the intersection upgrade is expected to be complete in 2027. Construction timelines will be known once our planning has progressed further.
