Old Western Highway landslip rectification
Underway
Update - October 2025
Landslip rectification works on the Old Western Highway are progressing well, with major construction now complete.
The Melton bound lanes of the Old Western Highway have reopened to traffic and remaining minor works are now underway.
About
The 400-metre section of the highway will be rebuilt to repair the damaged road and the roadside slope will be stabilised to prevent erosion. These works are essential to protect the longevity of the roadside landscape of the area and improve safety for all road users travelling on this road.
Works are scheduled for completion in late 2025, weather permitting.
What to expect
Crews will be on site from Monday to Friday, between 7am and 6pm, with the possibility of some weekend work.
While the works are underway, there will be disruptions. Please look out for signs and allow for extra time when travelling through the area.
Disruptions
The Melton bound lanes of the Old Western Highway have reopened to traffic.
Traffic management, including single lane closures and reduced speed limits will be in place while remaining works are underway. Crews will aim to minimise delays and access impacts as much as possible.
Road users are encouraged to plan their journey and follow all signage on site.
We thank you for your patience as we deliver this important project.
Please note: dates and timeframes of these works are dependent on a range of factors, including favourable weather and site conditions.
