New readers, same myki

We’re installing new readers on trains, trams and buses.

Please continue using your myki. If you see a new reader onboard, simply: 

• Tap on with your myki card or with Mobile myki in your Google Wallet™ app.
• Tap on the ‘tap zone’ of the reader, not the screen.   
• Tap off on any reader on the network, as normal.

This is a critical first step in enabling contactless payments in early 2026, to make travel easier and more convenient.
