Complete
We’ve completed works to upgrade the intersection of Coolart and Myers roads in Bittern, with the intersection reopening on Friday 23 January
Thank you for your patience while we completed these critical works.
What we delivered
As part of the upgrade, we’ve installed:
- a roundabout to improve safety and traffic flow through the intersection
- guardrail to reduce the severity of crashes
- raised safety platforms
- more lighting through the intersection to improve visibility and safety.
These changes follow similar intersection upgrades along Coolart Road in recent years.
Background
As part of the 2023-2026 Road Safety Program, the Victorian and Australian Governments have made a joint commitment to upgrade the intersection of Coolart Road and Myers Road in Bittern.
The upgraded intersection will help to reduce the risk of crashes and make it safer and easier for the 5,900 road users who travel through the intersection each day.
Big Build Roads upgraded the intersection on behalf of Transport Victoria.

Project timeline
- Mid 2025 – Planning and investigation works complete
- October 2025 – Major works start
- December 2025 – Major works complete
- January 2026 – Minor finishing works complete
