Mornington Peninsula Freeway maintenance
Underway
What we’re doing
We’re delivering vital maintenance works on the southbound lanes of the Mornington Peninsula Freeway, between Patterson River and Eastlink in Patterson Lakes.
These works will involve asphalt resurfacing and line marking to restore the condition of the road surface.
This work is being delivered as part of the Victorian Government’s $964 million investment in the Victorian 2024-25 road maintenance program.
What to expect during works
- Works are expected to start on Sunday 11 May 2025 and take up to two weeks to complete.
- We’ll be working at night at 7pm to 6am to minimise disruption to traffic during peak hours and to keep our crews safe. No works will take place on Friday nights, Saturday nights and public holidays.
- All southbound traffic lanes on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway (to Portsea) between Springvale Road and Eastlink will be closed, with detours in place. Please allow extra travel time during works.
- Heavy vehicle detours will be in place on Springvale Road, Edithvale Road, Nepean Highway and Seaford Road.
- Local traffic detours will be in place on Thames Promenade and McLeod Road.
- Southbound traffic lanes on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway will reopen with reduced speeds in place after work hours. Please observe traffic management signs and drive safely as sections of the road will be temporarily unsealed.
- Periods of high noise levels, vibrations, and dust – we’ll work to minimise these impacts as much as possible.
- A reduced speed limit during works to ensure the safety of crews and all road users.
- Expect travel delays up to 15 minutes.
Please note that dates and times are subject to change due to weather conditions. We’ll keep the community updated on the contractor’s program of works.
If Mornington Peninsula Freeway is part of your journey, look out for change traffic conditions and allow extra travel time.
