Overview
We’re installing Pedestrian Operated Signals (POS) on Lockwood Road at Kangaroo Flat to improve safety for pedestrians, bikes riders and other vulnerable road users.
These new signals will be located near the intersection of Neil Street and Lockwood Road, Kangaroo Flat.
Once completed, these works will provide a safer crossing for pedestrians and bike riders accessing the Bendigo Creek Trail, the Bendigo Special Developmental School and the Kangaroo Flat Library.

Details
The installation of pedestrian operated signals (POS) will create a dedicated and safe crossing point for pedestrians accessing the Kangaroo Flat Library. It is also located close to the Bendigo Special Developmental School, benefiting students, their families, and carers.
Works also include the installation of a Wombat (Zebra) Crossing on Neil Street provide direct connect to the Bendigo Special Developmental School.
On-Street parking changes
It is necessary to remove some carparks on Lockwood Road to install the new pedestrian operated signals.
Two car parks will be removed in front of the Kangaroo Flat Library and three car parks will be removed on the opposite side of the road.
Delivery
Works are expected to start in late March 2025 and take 15 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
During construction, lane closures and reduced speeds will be required at times. Please observe changed traffic conditions and allow extra time.
At times closures of footpaths may be required.
Every effort will be made to minimise disruption where possible.
