Lavers Hill-Cobden Road bridge upgrades at Scotts Creek and Kennedys Creek
We’re improving Lavers Hill-Cobden Road for all motorists, with bridge upgrades at Scotts Creek, Jancourt East and Kennedys Creek, Simpson. We’re also delivering safety improvements at the Lavers Hill-Cobden Road and Timboon-Colac Road intersection.
Underway
These improvements will ensure communities, visitors and industry can continue to connect to towns safely along Lavers Hill-Cobden Road.
Update – April 2026
Early works will start in late April, with major works planned to begin in May 2026. The project is expected to be completed in early 2027.
What we’re doing
Bridge replacement and intersection upgrades at Jancourt East include:
- building a new, wider bridge over Scotts Creek
- installing a retaining wall on the north-western corner of the bridge
- upgrading safety barriers on the bridge
- rebuilding road approaches to Scotts Creek bridg
- installing new left and right turn lanes, traffic islands, lighting and road signage at the Timboon-Colac Road intersection.
Bridge upgrade works south-east of the Simpson township include:
- installing a reinforced concrete deck on the existing bridge over Kennedys Creek
- upgrading safety barriers on the bridge
- installing new barriers on Lavers Hill-Cobden Road on approaches to the bridge
- strengthening bridge piers
- shoulder widening, asphalting and drainage works near the bridge.
The bridge improvements and upgraded intersection will provide safer, more reliable crossings that improve connectivity on this important inland route and boost the capacity for heavy vehicles that support local industries.
What to expect
The bridge replacement at Scotts Creek and intersection upgrade at Timboon-Colac Road is expected to take up to nine months to complete, weather permitting. These works will be completed in stages to minimise disruption to traffic and traffic flow on Lavers Hill-Cobden Road.
The bridge strengthening works at Kennedys Creek are expected to take up to seven months to complete, weather permitting.
Disruptions
During construction, crews will be on site Monday to Friday, between 7am and 6pm, with weekend and night works required at times.
If you’re traveling through the area during construction, please be aware of change traffic conditions, plan your journey and allow extra travel time.
We'll make every effort to minimise impacts to residents, businesses and the wider community while works are completed. Our work sites may include:
- Single lane closures, with traffic management in place.
- Reduced speed limits to ensure the safety of crews and all road users.
- Temporary traffic lights and electronic message signs.
- Delays of up to five minutes.
- Traffic management crews to help you move through the area.
Disruptions information will be updated on this website when the delivery program is confirmed. Please note dates and timeframes of these works are dependent on a range of factors, including favourable weather and site conditions.
Thank you for your patience while we complete this essential project.
