Katamatite-Nathalia Road bridge replacement

We’re removing and replacing the existing bridge on the Katamatite-Nathalia Road over Broken Creek near Katamatite.

Overview

We are replacing the existing three-span bridge with a new bridge – to keep freight and traffic moving.

Works include:

  • removal of the existing bridge over Broken Creek
  • construction of a new three-span bridge with a ‘T-beam’ structure
  • barrier installation, signs and linemarking

Traffic impacts


Works are expected to start in July 2026 and take nine months to complete, weather permitting. 

Staged works, both for the removal of the existing bridge and construction of the new bridge, will allow the road to stay open to traffic while work is underway.

One lane will remain open to traffic, operating at reduced speed. Delays of up to 10 minutes should be expected.

Please observe changed traffic conditions, follow onsite signs and allow extra time.

There will be times when machinery will cause knocking sounds and vibrations at the works site. Wherever possible we will reduce noise impacts by working during daytime hours and avoiding weekends.
