Hume Freeway Rest Area (Barry’s Bay) Wandong

We’ve improved the rest area known as “Barry’s Bay” on the southbound carriageway of the Hume Freeway at Wandong.

This project was funded by the Australian and Victorian governments as part of the Safer Local Roads Infrastructure Program.

We’ve completed works at the rest area on the southbound carriageway of the Hume Freeway with a focus on providing improved safety and amenity for the travelling public.

Works included:

  • improving and widening the pavement and improving the rest area layout
  • formalising parking bays, adding concrete barriers and improving facilities to better support heavy vehicle rest opportunities
  • improving drainage, lighting and toilet facilities to meet the needs of road users and freight operators
  • improving delineation between vehicle types and reducing conflict points to support a safe environment for drivers and pedestrians.
