Hume Freeway-Melrose Drive, Wodonga drainage works

We’re repairing a channel drain next to the Hume Freeway at Wodonga, near the Melrose Drive exit ramp.

Project status:

Underway

The works are required to repair erosion on the sloped banks of the drain and prevent further erosion in the future.

The works will repair erosion on the sloped banks of the drain and prevent more in the future.

To complete the works as safely and efficiently as possible, our crews will be using an access track from the Melrose Drive exit ramp to reach the drain within the road reserve.

Traffic impacts

Our crews will be on site from July, with works expected to take approximately 12 weeks, weather permitting.

To enable our crews to work safely within the road reserve, there will be restrictions on both the Hume Freeway and the Melrose Drive exit ramp.

Speed on both Melbourne-bound lanes of the Hume Freeway will be reduced to 60km/h on the approach to the Melrose Drive exit ramp from 7am to 6pm weekdays.

Speed on the Melrose Drive exit ramp will be reduced to 40km/h from 7am to 6pm weekdays. There will also be a temporary traffic light in place to stop traffic when work vehicles are entering or exiting the access track.

Speeds will return to normal outside work hours and on weekends.

Please observe changed traffic conditions and allow extra time.
