Hattah-Robinvale Road rehabilitation works and safety improvements

We’re delivering road rehabilitation works on 12.6 kilometres of Hattah-Robinvale Road, near Wemen.

Project status:

Underway

Overview

We’re delivering improvements on the Hattah-Robinvale Road, near Wemen to boost safety in this important agricultural area.

Works will take place across two sections of the road, between Wemen and the Robinvale-Sea Lake Road intersection.

Freight movements along this route have increased in recent years due to large farms and produce processing facilities in the area.

Currently, some sections of the road are too narrow for vehicles to pass safely in opposing directions and there are limited safe overtaking opportunities.

The works will include:

  • upgrading the road surface on the Hattah-Robinvale Road to provide uniform seal width, including sealing of the road shoulders
  • correcting the road alignment to meet current safety standards
  • installation of flexible safety barriers where required
  • new drainage
  • new signs and linemarking.

Works are expected to start in May 2026 and take approximately 12 months to complete, with a break over the winter months when weather is not suitable for sealing works.

This project is joint funded by the Australian and Victorian Governments under the Road Safety Program.

Traffic impacts

We’ll be working Monday to Friday during the day. No work will occur on weekends or public holidays.

During construction, there will be reduced speed limits and lane closures in place as required. Access to properties will be maintained.

Please plan ahead and allow up to 5 minutes extra travel time.

Vegetation removal

We have designed this project to minimise vegetation removal where possible. However, to accommodate the safety improvements, some native and non-native trees and vegetation along the road will need to be removed.
