Great Ocean Road and Inland Routes - landslip works
We’re stabilising roadsides and minimising the risk of landslides at four key locations on the Great Ocean Road and inland routes network, in Victoria’s South West.
Underway
Overview
We’re delivering landslip geotechnical works to protect the longevity of the natural roadside landscape and improve safety for all road users at:
- Cobden-Port Campbell Road, approximately 8kms south of Cobden, between Dingleys Road and Digneys Bridge Road
- Colac-Lavers Hill Road, approximately 4kms north of Ferguson, between Brockmans Road and Murchisons Road
- Timboon-Port Campbell Road, approximately 8kms south-east of Timboon, between Wild Dog Road and Cobden-Port Campbell Road
- Great Ocean Road, between Kennett River and Grey River
The Victorian Government has invested $255 million to the Great Ocean Road and its inland routes. This includes $115 million to upgrade inland routes between the Great Ocean Road and the Princes Highway, which are vital connections for tourism, freight and local communities.
Update – June 2026
Works are underway at the Cobden-Port Campbell Road and Colac-Lavers Hill Road sites and are expected to be completed in late 2026.
Works on the Great Ocean Road began in late May 2026, and will take approximately four months to complete.
Works on Timboon-Port Campbell Road are expected to start in mid-2026 and take approximately four months to complete.
Disruptions
While the works are underway, there will be disruptions. Please look out for signs and allow for extra time when travelling through the area.
Crews will be on site from Monday to Friday, between 7am and 6pm, with the possibility of weekend work.
Please note: dates and times are subject to change due to site and weather conditions.
We'll make every effort to minimise disruption to traffic while works are completed. Our work sites may include:
- Single lane closures, with traffic management in place
- Reduced speed limits to ensure the safety of crews and all road users
- Temporary traffic lights and electronic message signs
- Traffic management crews to help you move through the area while we complete these important works.
