Geelong-Portarlington Road and Wilsons Road intersection upgrade
The Australian and Victorian Governments are upgrading the Geelong-Portarlington Road and Wilsons Road intersection in Newcomb with new traffic signals, to improve safety and traffic flow.
Underway
Update – June 2026
Major works to upgrade the intersection and install new traffic signals are expected to be completed in mid-2026.
Stage 3 works, including road reconstruction activities, are underway. These works will require changes to traffic management, as outlined below.
Traffic changes – from 11 June 2026
Lane alignments will be shifted to allow for remaining road reconstruction works, as follows:
- Single traffic lane on Geelong-Portarlington Road (Portarlington-bound)
- Single traffic lane on Geelong-Portarlington Road (Geelong-bound)
- Left turn only restrictions lifted at Wilsons Road onto Geelong-Portarlington Road.
Please note: dates and timeframes of these works are dependent on a range of factors, including favourable weather and site conditions.
