Frankston-Flinders Road, Balnarring maintenance works

We’re delivering vital maintenance on Frankston-Flinders Road in Balnarring to provide a smoother, safer journey for all road users.

Update – July 2026

We’re working during the day under a full road closure between 7am and 4pm from Wednesday 29 July to Friday 31 July 2026.

From 4pm Wednesday 29 July to 7am Thursday 30 July 2026, there will be a lane closure between south of Clarke Street and Stumpy Gully Road with traffic management controllers guiding traffic in both directions.

Please note, dates and times are subject to change due to weather conditions.

We need to complete these works during the day as works to restore the final layer of pavement (wearing course) can no longer be completed at night due to overnight cold temperatures that prevent the asphalt from setting.

What to expect during works

A daily full road closure on Frankston-Flinders Road between Stumpy Gully Road and Coolart Road with detours in place.
A detour will be in place via Balnarring Road, Bittern-Dromana Road and Coolart Road.
A lane closure on Frankston-Flinders Road between south of Clarke Street and Stumpy Gully Road with traffic management controllers in place to direct traffic in both directions. This will be in place from 4pm Wednesday to 7am Thursday.
Crews will work with property owners to maintain access to private properties and businesses within this section of Frankston-Flinders Road.
No parking on this section of Frankston-Flinders Road.
Medium to high levels of noise when crews remove the surface layers of road. Low to medium levels of noise are expected during all other works.
Crews use modern equipment to keep noise to a minimum, however the works will unavoidably emit some noise and light. For the safety of road users and workers, reversing beepers are required on all machinery.
Emergency service vehicle access will be maintained.
A reduced speed limit around the work site to ensure the safety of crews and all road users.

This project is part of the 2025-26 road maintenance program.
