Corio Quay Road (Bayside Road) bridge upgrades
We have delivered vital safety upgrades to four bridges on Corio Quay Road (Bayside Road), North Geelong, to meet the demands of modern freight vehicles.
Complete
This project was delivered by the Australian and Victorian Governments, as part of the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (formerly the Bridges Renewal Program).
Update – April 2026
Major works are complete on all four bridge structures.
The Corio Quay Road bridge upgrades project has delivered stronger, safer structures for the region’s growing population and future transport needs.
Upgrading the four bridges ensures Corio Quay Road continues to operate at maximum efficiency, has improved safety and reliability for businesses, residents and Spirit of Tasmania travellers and supports GeelongPort to continue functioning as one of Victoria’s main shipping hubs.
These key bridge upgrades cater for High Productivity Freight Vehicles and boost the capacity and efficiency of this important freight corridor through Geelong that is essential to supporting local industries.
As a key route for residents, businesses and visitors in North Geelong and an important corridor for freight and vehicles accessing GeelongPort, the delivery of this project will support our economy, now and into the future.
