Hume
Find out about bushfire recovery work being done in the Hume region.

We’re busy delivering important bushfire recovery works right across the Hume region.
From replacing fire-damaged signs and barriers through to on-road repairs, we’re making sure that the roads can continue to keep drivers and freight on the move across the region.
We’ll provide monthly updates on the repairs happening across the Hume region between now and the completion of these vital works.
June 2026
We are planning bushfire affected vegetation removal works on the Maroondah Link Highway near Yarck on Wednesday 24 June.
These works include clean up of fire-impacted fallen trees, debris and shrubs.
To deliver the works as safely and efficiently as possible a closure of the Maroondah Link Highway near the overpass will be in place from 6am to 6pm on Wednesday 24 June 2026. Dates and times are subject to change due to weather conditions.
The closure is required as there is not enough width in the single lane section of road under the overpass to allow the use of tree-clearing machinery alongside moving traffic.
During the closure vehicles travelling on the Maroondah Highway from Yarck toward Cathkin will be required to stay on the Maroondah Highway (rather than using the Maroondah Link Highway) to detour via Koriella and return via the Goulburn Valley Highway to Cathkin and rejoin the Maroondah Highway.
The detour is expected to add up to 10 minutes travel time. Please follow detour signs, plan ahead and allow extra time.
