Bridge Road, Richmond resurfacing works

These works will improve safety and reliability for all road users in the shared tram zone.

When and where

From 10pm, Friday 10 April 2026 to 4.30am, Monday 13 April 2026, Bridge Road will be closed to traffic between Punt Road and Church Street.

Detours will be in place during this time.  

Impacts

• Works carried out 24/7.
• Full road closure of Bridge Road between Punt Road and Church Street.
• Vehicles, machinery, profilers, excavators and contractors on site.
• Mostly high levels of noise.
• Vehicle access to properties in the Bridge Road precinct via alternative side streets.
• Detours for bike riders, pedestrians and traffic.
• Traffic management will be in place to ensure worker and community safety. Please follow signage and allow extra time when planning your journey.
• Works are dependent on weather and ground conditions and subject to change.
• Businesses located around the works will remain open. Please continue to support local business during these essential works.

Public transport

There will be service changes to tram routes 48 and 75 during the works.

Route 48 trams divert along Victoria Street.

Route 75 trams divert along Swan Street.

Buses replace Route 48 and Route 75 trams along Bridge Road.

Pedestrians

Footpaths will remain open around most of the work area. Some temporary footpath closures may occur while upgrades take place.
