Barwon Heads Road, Blackrock Road intersection safety upgrades
We’ve completed major works to improve the intersection of Barwon Heads Road, Blackrock Road and Staceys Road in Connewarre, delivering a new roundabout and upgrade for a safer, smoother journey.
Underway
Update - April 2026
We’ve completed major works to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Barwon Heads Road, Blackrock Road and Staceys Road. This intersection upgrade will improve safety for all road users, including people driving, walking and riding in the area.
While major works are complete, there are minor ongoing works at the intersection.
Remaining works include public lighting, site clean-up and the final stage of bus stop works. Temporary street lighting will be in place until the activation of public lights. Traffic management may be required at times, including lane closures and reduced speed limits.
Bus stop closures
Minor work is ongoing as part of works to relocate the bus stops. This work impacts Route 55 buses travelling between Ocean Grove and Geelong Station, and school buses. Disruptions information can be found here.
During this time, bus users will need to use the next available stop.
- Passengers travelling towards Geelong Station can use the Breamlea Road/Barwon Heads Road or 13th Beach Golf Links/Barwon Heads Road bus stops.
- Passengers travelling towards Ocean Gove can use the Shaws Lane/Barwon Heads Road or 13th Beach Golf Links/Barwon Heads Road bus stops
The bus stops are expected to open in May 2026.
