Murray River Road, Burrowye Creek

We’re working to repair the embankment of Burrowye Creek Bridge on Murray River Road, Burrowye.

An inspection of Burrowye Creek Bridge on Murray River Road found the bridge embankment had been damaged by recent heavy rain and flooding and repairs are required.

Following an initial closure, Murray River Road is now open with the installation of a temporary Bailey Bridge at Burrowye Creek providing single-lane traffic access.

Traffic lights are in place at both ends of the Bailey Bridge and a 20km/h speed limit is in place.

Please plan ahead, allow extra time and observe changed conditions.

20 tonne load limit

There is a load limit of 20 tonne on the Bailey Bridge at Burrowye Creek. All vehicles over 20 tonne will need to detour via Granya Road, Murray River Road and Shelley-Walwa Road.

Next steps

Works to repair the bridge embankment are underway. This includes the construction of a sandbag wall to stabilise and protect the bridge foundation as well as additional rock beaching in the creek bed.

The Bailey Bridge will remain in place while works are completed, along with the reduced speed limit and load limit.
