Calder Highway and Belar Avenue Extension intersection improvements, Irymple

We’re delivering safety improvements at the intersection of the Calder Highway and Belar Avenue Extension (Belar Ave Ext) in Irymple as part of the Australian Government’s Black spot Program.

Works at the intersection focus on delivering improved visibility for motorists and include:

• road widening and installation of painted traffic islands
• reconstruction of the road surface
• installation of safety barrier

Traffic disruption

Works are expected to begin in mid-November 2026 take approximately four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

During works a lane closure will be in place on the Calder Highway, with one lane used for travel in each direction Traffic lights will be in place to guide road users through the work zone.

The intersection of Belar Ave Ext and the Calder Highway will be closed for the duration of this project. A detour will be in place for all vehicles wanting to access the Calder Highway via Sixteenth Street and Morpung Avenue. Please follow detour signage and allow extra travel time.
