Leakes Road and Clearwood Drive Safety Upgrade
We’re upgrading Leakes Road and Clearwood Drive in Truganina to improve safety.

The upgrade will make it safer for students and pedestrians to travel through the area, particularly during busy school times.
The upgrade will introduce a safer speed limit on Leakes Road during school times, install electronic speed signs and provide a safer pedestrian crossing at Clearwood Drive.
What’s next
Detailed planning is currently underway as the upgrade moves towards construction. Key activities include:
- developing the detailed design and construction approach
- on-site investigations to test ground conditions and confirm the locations of utilities, services and other features.
To prepare for construction, a range of site assessments will be undertaken. To ensure these assessments are completed safely, there may be temporary lane closures, footpath closures and reduced speeds. Traffic disruption will be kept to a minimum, and busy periods will be avoided, where possible.
Initial planning work for the safety upgrade is expected to be complete by early 2027. Construction timelines will be known once planning has progressed further.
