Belgrave-Gembrook Road Safety Upgrade

We’re installing electronic speed limit signs outside Cockatoo Primary School to improve safety on Belgrave-Gembrook Road.

Overview 

The signs will:

  • improve visibility of speed signage and increase drivers' awareness of the 40km/h speed limit during school hours
  • improve safety and decrease the risk of collisions and injuries for pedestrians, especially the students at Cockatoo Primary School.

What’s next

To prepare for construction, a range of site assessments will be undertaken. To ensure these assessments are completed safely, there may be temporary lane and footpath closures and reduced speeds. Traffic disruption will be kept to a minimum, and busy periods will be avoided, where possible.  

Initial planning work for the upgrade is expected to be complete in early 2027. Construction timelines will be known once planning has progressed further.
