Better train and bus services in Melbourne’s west
West Tarneit Station opens Sunday 13 September
The new West Tarneit Station will be served by 689 trains each week on the Geelong Line, making it easier for more people to catch the train.
A new train timetable will also create space for an extra 12,000 passengers in the west each week. Learn more about new timetables starting in August.
The station is on the corner of Leakes and Davis roads and includes a bus interchange, up to 400 car parks and an accessible pedestrian underpass.
Both platforms can be accessed by ramps and stairs, and pedestrians can reach the north side of the station through the underpass.
Near the station entrance, there are 10 accessible parking spaces and 5 pick-up and drop-off bays.
The station includes bike hoops, secure bike storage, seating and landscaping. New walking and cycling paths will make it easier to get to and from the station.
New Route 186 and improved Route 182 from Sunday 13 September
New Route 186 Tarneit Station to West Tarneit Station will give locals a new bus connection to West Tarneit and Tarneit stations via Dohertys Road.
Route 182 Tarneit Station to Werribee will also run more often and travel via West Tarneit Station.
Both routes will run seven days a week, up to every 15 minutes during weekday peak times, every 20 minutes across most of the day and every 40 minutes later at night.
