Tap and go rollout expands to regional Victoria
108 new myki readers are being installed across 37 regional V/Line stations, bringing tap and go to every train station in Victoria.
Whether you're catching the train from Bairnsdale, Wangaratta, Albury, Shepparton, Echuca, Swan Hill, Maryborough, Ararat or Warrnambool, you'll soon be able to tap on with your bank card, phone or smartwatch.
New myki readers for regional stations
Works are underway to install 108 new myki readers across 37 V/Line stations that currently require a paper ticket or eTicket.
We'll switch on the readers later this year, so you can tap and go at every train station in the state.
How ticketing will work during the rollout
You can still reserve a seat when travelling on V/Line services where reservations are available. If you haven't reserved a seat, you can buy an unreserved fare at your station with tap and go.
If you'd rather use a physical myki card, you can. If you travel on a concession fare, as a senior, or if you're under 18, keep using your concession or Youth myki.
Tap and go already popular across the network
Victorians have already embraced tap and go, making more than one million trips with a bank card or smart device since it launched last month across the myki-enabled rail network and on trams.
More Victorians are leaving their wallets at home, with 4 in 5 of those trips made using a phone or smartwatch.
The rollout will continue later this month, with tap and go expanding across myki-enabled buses.
