People travelling for the Australia Day public holiday weekend are reminded to check for VicEmergency warnings and road closures on VicTraffic before setting off.
There are still roads in Victoria that are closed due to bushfires and flooding, and roads with limited access for emergency services and residents only.
If you are travelling through bushfire or flood-impacted areas, please drive safely and follow recommended detour routes and direction from traffic management.
Sticking to major arterial roads and signposted detour routes is your safest way through impacted areas.
Please follow any local road access restrictions that are in place. If a road remains closed by emergency services, it is because it has not been declared safe.
Emergency services and road crews are working to reopen roads as quickly and as safely as possible.
Always abide by posted speed limits and conditions – they are there for safety reasons.
Check VicTraffic for road closures and traffic conditions before you travel and listen to local radio for warnings and advice while you drive.
If conditions are forecast to be dangerous, reconsider your need for travel and be prepared to change your plans.
