Free travel is limited to trips solely within Victoria (with an exception for travel to Albury, Mount Gambier and Deniliquin). Airport buses, ferries and privately-run services are excluded.
myki passes will not be charged during the free travel period and will be extended automatically.
Half price travel from 1 June until 1 January 2027
When the free travel period ends on 31 May, public transport in Victoria will be half price for all passengers until 1 January 2027.
The 50% discount will apply to full fare as well as concession passengers.
myki Passes
If you have an active myki Pass which expires during the free travel period in April and May, you will receive an extension for the unused days.
Find out more information on myki Pass extensions.
V/Line and regional services
You don't need a ticket or myki to travel for free.
During the free travel period, seat reservations will not be available on V/Line train services. Seat reservations on some coach services are still required, at zero cost.
Tickets can be booked at staffed regional and metropolitan train stations as well as V/Line booking agents.
If you have already booked during this free travel period you can apply for a refund online by completing the customer feedback form at vline.com.au/contact-us or visit a staffed station. Existing seat reservations will still be honoured after a refund has been issued.
From 1 June passengers can book seats on V/Line as normal, at the half price fare.
Group travel
Group travel booking requirements remain the same during the free travel period.
You can request group travel on all public transport services within zones 1 and 2 and/or the myki regional town bus network on the Transport Victoria website.
More information on group travel for V/Line services is available on the V/Line website.
