
Better bus travel for the Mornington Peninsula
Timetable changes from 5 July 2026
Getting around the Mornington Peninsula is about to get easier, with more direct services, faster trips, plus better train connections.
From 5 July 2026, we’re providing more bus services for the Mornington Peninsula, including a new direct Hastings to Mornington service, longer operating hours, and improved connections to Frankston Station.
Key changes
- Route 886 Hastings - Mornington via Tyabb is a new direct service, with 233 weekly trips, approximately every 60 minutes, 7 days a week.
- Route 784 Frankston - Mornington will follow a new route and operate longer hours, with faster and more direct trips.
- Route 785 Frankston - Mornington East will follow a new route and operate longer hours, with faster and more direct trips.
- Route 781 Frankston - Dromana will operate earlier from 5am weekdays and 6am on weekends.
There will also be new timetables for 31 bus services in the south-east to align with the new Frankston Line train timetable for better train connections, following the Metro Tunnel opening.
Route 786 Rye to St Andrews Beach will be removed to help us improve other bus routes on the peninsula where the demand is higher.
*Please note two stops on Route 784 Frankston to Mornington on Racecourse Road near Watt Road in Mornington (stop IDs 29232 and 29233) may not be available when services begin 5 July 2026. These stops will be open from 19 July 2026. Until then, passengers can use nearby stops 29234 and 29235 on Racecourse Road to the south or stops 29230 and 29231 on Racecourse Road to the north.

Service details
*New* Route 886 Hastings - Mornington via Tyabb
- Direct connection between Hastings, Tyabb and Mornington, improving access to jobs, education, medical facilities and shops across the peninsula.
- Running approximately every 60 minutes, 7 days a week.
- 6am to 11pm weekdays.
- 7am to 10pm Saturday and Sunday.
- Connecting with Frankston-bound buses at Mornington, providing access to more destinations with a simple transfer.
- New coverage along the western extent of High St in Hastings, with services extending to Hendersons Rd for the first time. This improves access to local schools, residential areas and retirement villages.
Route 781 Frankston - Dromana via Mount Eliza, Mornington and Mount Martha
- On weekdays, buses will run every 60 minutes from 5am to 11pm.
- On Saturdays, buses will run approximately from 6am to 11pm.
- On Sundays, buses will run approximately from 6am to 10pm.
- Timetables are changing to better align with routes 784 and 785. The three routes will continue to run together, providing a 20 minute frequency between Mornington and Frankston.
Route 784 Frankston - Mornington via Mt Eliza and Mornington East
- More direct with faster journey times to Mornington, Frankston Station and CBD.
- On weekdays, buses will run from approximately 5am to 11pm.
- On weekends, buses will run from approximately 6am to 11pm.
- Better transport coverage along Racecourse and Bungower roads in Mornington, giving residents better access to shops, recreation areas and nearby retirement villages.
- Timetables are changing to better align with routes 781 and 785. The three routes will continue to run together, providing a 20 minute frequency between Mornington and Frankston.
Route 785 Frankston - Mornington East via Mt Eliza and Mornington
- More direct with faster journey times to Mornington East, Frankston Station and CBD.
- On weekdays and Saturdays, buses will operate from approximately 6am to 11pm.
- On Sundays, buses will run from approximately 6am to 10pm.
- Timetables are changing to better align with routes 784 and 781. The three routes will continue to run together, providing a 20 minute frequency between Mornington and Frankston.
786 Rye - St Andrews Beach
- Route 786 will be removed.
