The Story Holders draws on Lincoln Square as a place of history, memory and everyday life. The forms reference the rhythm and decorative details of the surrounding Victorian terraces, while organic elements celebrate the site's green spaces. Playful characters reflect Carlton's rich food and arts culture, acting as subtle echoes of the past and the people and stories that continue to shape the area. The work is also informed by the artist's personal memories of Carlton and the important role the neighbourhood has played in their creative journey.

About the Artist

Tonia Composto, AKA Lemon Chicken Por Favor, is a Melbourne and Surf Coast-based illustrator and graphic designer. Her playful visual language is shaped by her printmaking background, combining bold graphic forms, texture and storytelling. Her practice spans editorial illustration, publishing, public art and promotional campaigns, bringing ideas, stories and places to life.
