The Victorian Alcohol interlock program
About the Alcohol Interlock Program
Overview of the Department of Transport and Planning alcohol interlock program.
An alcohol interlock device will be required to be installed in your vehicle and will test if there’s alcohol on your breath.
In the alcohol interlock program, you must blow into the breath testing device before you can start your car.
The interlock stops your car from starting if:
- the device detects a breath alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.02 or higher
- you don’t follow the interlock's instructions.
