Maintenance program 2024-25 

Maintenance work will be carried out on many roads across Metropolitan Melbourne as part of the 2024-25 Victorian road maintenance program.

See the list below for our scheduled maintenance work across the next fortnight.

Works are subject to favourable weather conditions and may need to be rescheduled from time to time.

Scheduled works

Mornington-Flinders Road, Flinders (pavement rehabilitation)

• Date(s): 30/03/2025 to 30/04/2025
• Disruption: Nightworks (7pm to 6am) with northbound and southbound road closure between Whitehall Road and Boyds Road.
• Detour: Mornington Flinders Road will be closed. Detour via White-Hill Road, Nepean Highway, Mornington Peninsula Freeway and Boneo Road, or via Dunns Creek Road, Bittern Dromana Road, Balnarring Road and Frankston Flinders Road.

Gap Road, Sunbury (pavement rehabilitation)

• Date(s): 27/04/2025 to 1/05/2025
• Disruption: Nightworks with eastbound and westbound road closure between Anderson Road and Horne Street.
• Detour: Gap Road will be closed. Detour via Horne Street (Vineyard Rd) and Calder Freeway.

Studley Park Road, Kew (asphalt resurfacing)

• Date(s): 06/04/2025 to 11/04/2025
• Disruption: Nightworks with eastbound and westbound road closure between Clarke Street and Hyton Crescent.
• Detour: Studley Park Road will be closed. Detour via Hoddle Street, Eastern Freeway and Princess Street, or via High St, Bakers Road / Victoria Street and Hoddle Street.

Stud Road, Dandenong North (pavement rehabilitation)

• Date(s): 08/04/2025 to 30/04/2025
• Disruption: Nightworks (7pm to 5:30am)with northbound and southbound road closure between McFees Road and Heatherton Road.
• Detour: Northbound and southbound lanes of Stud Road will be closed one direction at a time. Detour via Heatherton Road and Monash Freeway.

Princes Highway, Bunyip (resurfacing works)

• Date(s): 14/04/2025
• Disruption: Daytime works with eastbound shuttle flow (stop/go) between Nash Road and Jefferson Road.
• Detour: No

Belmore Road, Balwyn (asphalt resurfacing)

• Date(s): 14/04/2025 to 22/04/2025
• Disruption: Nightworks with eastbound and westbound road closure between Union Road and Tyrrell Street.
• Detour: Belmore Road will be closed. Detour via Balwyn Road, Doncaster Road, Eastern Freeway and Elgar Road, or via Elgar Road, Whitehorse Road and Balwyn Road.

Healesville - Koo Wee Rup Road, Gembrook (resurfacing works)

• Date(s): 14/04/2025 to 15/04/2025
• Disruption: Daytime works with northbound and southbound shuttle flow (stop/go) between Evans Road and Smiths Road.
• Detour: No

Healesville - Koo Wee Rup Road, Healesville (resurfacing works)

• Date(s): 22/04/2025
• Disruption: Daytime works with northbound and southbound shuttle flow (stop/go) between Howitt Road and Toolebewong Road.
• Detour: No

Healesville - Koo Wee Rup Road, Woori Yallock (resurfacing works)

• Date(s): 24/04/2025
• Disruption: Daytime works with northbound and southbound shuttle flow (stop/go) between Warburton Highway and Allsops Road.
• Detour: No

South Gippsland Highway, Lang Lang (resurfacing works)

• Date(s): 15/04/2025
• Disruption: Daytime works with westbound shuttle flow (stop/go) between Caldermeade Road and Westernport Road.
• Detour: No

Nar Nar Goon - Longwarry Road, Tynong (resurfacing works)

• Date(s): 16/04/2025
• Disruption: Daytime works with eastbound and westbound road closure between Bunyip - Modella Road and Fourteen Mile Road.
• Detour: Local traffic detour via Thirteen Mile Road, Bunyip River Road and Bunyip - Modella Road. Heavy vehicles access maintained under traffic management. 

Somerton Road, Roxburgh Park (asphalt resurfacing)

• Date(s): 16/04/2025 to 23/04/2025
• Disruption: Nightworks with eastbound road closure between Magnolia Boulevard and Pascoe Vale Road.
• Detour: Somerton Road will be closed. Detour via Pascoe Vale Road, Johnstone Street and Mickleham Road, or via Mickleham Road, Craigieburn Road and Sydney Road.

Elliot Avenue, Parkville (asphalt resurfacing)

• Date(s): 22/04/2025 to 23/04/2025
• Disruption: Nightworks with eastbound and westbound road closure between Flemington Road and Royal Parade.
• Detour: Elliott Avenue will be closed. Detour via Flemington Road and Royal Parade or Alexander Road, Brunswick Road and Royal Parade.

Barkly Street, St Kilda (asphalt resurfacing)

• Date(s): 22/04/2025 to 23/05/2025
• Disruption: Nightworks with northbound and southbound road closure between Charles Street and Vale Street.
• Detour: Barkly Street will be closed. Detour via Carlisle Street and St Kilda Road, or via Glen Huntley Road and Street Kilda Road.

North Road Highway, Brighton East (asphalt resurfacing)

• Date(s): 22/04/2025 to 24/04/2025
• Disruption: Nightworks with eastbound and westbound road closure between Landcox Street and Thomas Street.
• Detour: North Road Highway will be closed. Detour via Nepean Highway, Hotham Street, Glen Eira Road, Booran Road, Neerim Road and Grange Road, or via Nepean Highway, Centre Road and Jasper Road.

Hume Freeway / Craigieburn Bypass, between the Metropolitan Ring Road and Kalkallo (asphalt resurfacing)

Melba Highway asphalt resurfacing, Yering

Date(s): 28/04/2025 to 29/04/2025

Disruption: Nightworks with road closure between MacIntyre Lane and Cambus Road

Detour: 

• Standard vehicles should allow an extra 10 minutes for detours via MacIntyre Lane, Victoria Road, Coldstream West Road and Station Street.
• Heavy vehicles should allow an extra 20 minutes for detours via Maroondah Highway and Healesville-Yarra Glen Road.

Upcoming rehabilitation works

Greater Melbourne area

Rehabilitation works on the following roads in the Greater Metro region will be undertaken between now and mid-2025:

• South Gippsland Highway, between North Road and Baxter-Tooradin Road, Clyde (770m), City of Casey.
• Main Whittlesea Road, between Barber Creek and Arthurs Creek Road, Doreen (290m), Whittlesea City.

• Diggers Rest-Coimadai Road, at Kororoit Creek Eastern Branch, Melton (220m), Melton Shire
• Craigieburn Road, between on/off road to Coburg-Craigieburn Road and Merri Creek (473m), Hume City.
• Nar Nar Goon-Longwarry Road, between Bunyip-Modella Road and McNamara Road (700m), Cardina Shire Council.

Inner Melbourne area

• Earl Street and Asquith Street, between Tennyson Street and Belford Road, Kew (870m), Boroondara City.
• North Road, between Best Street and Clarendon Avenue, Oakleigh (810m), Monash City.
