Project update - April 2025
40km/h school speed zone on Queens Parade
In January 2024, we introduced a 40km/h school speed zone on Queens Parade, between Napier Street and Smith Street, to improve safety for students travelling to and from Wurun Senior Campus.
To remind drivers of the low-speed environment, we also installed four solar-powered electronic speed limit signs along this section of Queens Parade.
We’re upgrading the solar panels to ensure the signs receive sufficient solar energy to operate during all months of the year.
We’ll be returning to site in April to upgrade the solar panels and complete minor concrete works at the base of the signs to support ongoing maintenance.
The electronic speed limit signs will be operational once these works are complete.
When to expect us
Works will take place over four days between Friday 11 April and late April 2025. Most works will be completed on weekdays, between 9:30am and 3:30pm. One day of works will be completed on Saturday 12 April, with crews working between 7am and 5pm.
Dates and times are subject to change due to weather conditions and the contractor’s program of works.
What to expect during works
- Single lane closures on both the eastbound and westbound side of Queens Parade, between Wellington Street and Alexandra Parade.
- Periods of low to medium noise levels, vibrations and dust during concrete works – we’ll work to minimise these impacts as much as possible.
- A reduced speed limit during works to ensure the safety of crews and all road users.
- Pedestrian, business and residential access will be maintained at all times.
We thank the community for their patience whilst we complete these important safety improvements.
